Program areas at International Association for Spelling as Communication
Training - S2C Practitioner Training started 125 new practitioners in 12 Cohorts in 2023 joining the 366 established Practitioners. I-ASC Practitioners are now serving people in 40 US States and 4 Canadian Provinces along with many international countries. I-ASC was able to provide tuition assistance to 25% of the participants in the 12 Cohorts. Practitioners pay their scholarship forward by providing free services to nonspeaking clients in their community, offering a free session per every $100 of tuition assistance they receive. Continuing education for our registered S2C Practitioners extended to monthly free webinars and client discussions with 225 in our Practitioner Portal. Over 40 of our registered S2C Practitioners are acting as mentors and graders in our training program.
Advocacy - The Nonspeaking Leadership Council's 10 members continued to participate in numerous facets of the spellerverse. Writing blogs, hosting I-ASC events, and attending conferences. The NLC were also the hosts at Boards & Chords and presenters at Motormorphosis as well as many yearly webinars. Spellers & Allies Advocacy Network with over 50 members presented at several conferences and two of our webinars telling the Truth about Nonspeakers. They presented at Motormorphosis 2023 and worked on growing their network. February 2023 showcased our second annual free Boards & Chords Concert with 650+ registrants. Nonspeakers wrote beautifully performed songs in this one-of-a-kind music festival that was simply earth shattering. Demonstrating once again that nonspeaking does not mean nonthinking.
Education - We continued providing free events and resources throughout 2023. Adding some 26+ free Lessons, 52+ informative articles, and 26+ Motor hacks to the newly redesigned website. The popular monthly Neurolyrical Cafe with 900+ attendees over the last 12 months continued in 2023. I-ASC also hosted 12 new topic free webinars and 12 community visits. All in all, around 71 Free Monthly talks and webinars attended by 4982 people. I-ASC Leadership and Nonspeakers presented in over 8 conferences in 2023. Events culminated in July 2023 with the 7th Annual Motormorphosis Conference with 340+ in-person attendees and 60+ virtual attendees. This conference continued to be the primary event sharing new and vital information for the continued progress of nonspeaking communication access.
