Program areas at Nonviolence International
NVI performs a variety of formal and informal educational services designed to increase the awareness and understanding about nonviolence and conflict resolution. NVI also frequently funds, organizes, or supports training sessions for diverse audiences around the globe and provides other forms of support and consultations for students peace educators and other practitioners in related fields. In 2022 NVI performed the following educational activities wrote books, articles and created videos on nonviolence, provided nonviolence training, and promoted the dissemination of news stories related to the coverage of NV activism.
NVI endeavors to expand the capacity of and cooperation among nonviolent activists, social justice organizations and conflict resolution professionals, and other similar groups/individuals, recognizing that effective, nonviolent social change requires broad-reaching, and often cross-sector/cross-border engagement. In 2022, NVI carried out the following: support for nonviolent resistance to Russian invasion of Ukraine, advocacy for civilians, refugees, human rights, civic engagement of youth, and peace at at the UN; nonviolent intervention in human rights abuses of the Saharwi people, supporting grassroots networks of trainers and activists around the world, promoting nonviolent activism online, promoting new frameworks for addressing the Israeli apartheid policies towards Palestinians.
NVI provides fiscal sponsorship to a variety of groups committed to nonviolence, peace and justice. These fiscally sponsored partner are primarily focused in the areas of Palestinian Justice and Humanitarian Disarmament. A third grouping of fiscal sponsors are found in the next grouping on Campaigns, Network and Capacity Building.
