Program areas at North American Thrombosis Forum
Various educational conferences and seminars are held through out the year. National and international leaders in the field of thrombosis are invited to present papers at this 1-day symposiums. The programs provide a concise state-of-the-art overview of prophylaxis measures and critical developments in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of thrombotic disorders. Many Thrombosis programs are CME accredited for physicians, nurses, and pharmacists, reflecting NATF's multi-disciplinary approach. Summit contents are documented and available either through the NATF website and/or CD-ROM obtainable through NATF.
Patient education: our patient education initiatives expand across online materials such as our website, podcasts, social media and on printed materials. Natf publishes a bi-monthly newsletter, the beat, where patients can learn about groundbreaking research in the Thrombosis field and get a first-hand look at natf's upcoming events and initiatives. Our website, thrombosis.org, is our biggest educational tool for patients. In 2023, we've expanded on our related conditions categories for patients to include peripheral arterial disease (pad), cancer and Thrombosis, and transgender health and blood clot risk. We run ads to promote our patient materials such as the beat, online articles, our patient support groups, and related conditions we've focused on.
Bwh research and fellowship: the North American Thrombosis Forum made a charitable donation of $100,000 to brigham and women's hospital to support research and fellowship in honor of dr. samuel z. goldhaber. This donation establishes the samuel z. goldhaber, md, fellow support fund, a permanently restricted endowment within the department of medicine. The annual distributions from this fund will support the education and training of a vascular medicine fellow or a cardiovascular medicine fellow, thereby advancing the natf's educational mission.
Cme programs $317 thousand: part of natf's mission is to educate healthcare professionals through our innovative programming. This category includes the continuing medical education programs we offered throughout the year. Our programs brought together over 30 world-renowned faculty to educate an audience of clinical and research professionals who study and/or care for patients with right heart disease, congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, cardiometabolic disease, and associated disorders relating to Thrombosis.
