Program areas at North Carolina Association Of Broadcasters
Ncab advocates on behalf of its members to advance the interests of the state broadcast industry before the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government. Ncab also promotes closer cooperation and understanding between its members for the benefit of the broadcast industry. The Association also educates the public, state leaders and other businesses about the uses and value of broadcasting and the importance of the role Broadcasters play in their local communities.
Ncab has a non-commercial sustaining announcement (ncsa)/public education program (pep) which helps non-profit and government agencies air their messages effectively and affordably on radio and television stations statewide.
Ncab provides services related to fcc (federal communications commission) compliance directly to the membership which include member training webinars and the alternative broadcast inspection program (abip). The training opportunities include sales, management, programming, and other pertinent topics relating to the broadcast industry in addition to legal & fcc compliance. Abip inspections are completed by an independent contractor retained by the Association upon request of the member stations to certify basic regulatory compliance under the rules and regulations of the fcc. Stations found "in compliance" are then granted a 3 year grace period during which time stations are exempted from further routine/random inspections by the fcc.
