The nc Statewide Independent Living Council (ncsilc) is the North Carolina governor's appointed Council established under title vii of the rehabilitation act of 1973, as amended, to promote Independent Living by consumer control, peer support, self-help and motivation, and individual and systems advocacy. It performs its mission under the leadership of a board of directors of up to 20 members, an executive director, support staff and in collaboration with seven centers for Independent Living across the state. The board of directors meet quarterly as a full body with committee meetings at other times. It also supports a leadership program for youth with disabilities and is an integral part of the development of the state plan for Independent Living (spil).
