Description
North End Community Ministry's mission is to provide emergency food, clothing, and referral services to lower income individuals as well as enrichment and informal educational experiences for children and parents in our service area. The n.e. Supper House program serves a hot meal weekly by a crew of people representing their church or organization "restaurant style." Additionally, the client choice food pantry offers an emergency 3-4 day supply of food to those in need on Grand Rapids' northeast side with grocery store shelving, carts, and the ability to choose the food they want.

Program areas at North End Community Ministry

The main choice food pantry served about 10,000 individuals. Our neighbors in need can access direly needed food. There is no charge for the food and they can acess fresh fruits & vegetables as well as a variety of meats, pasta, cereal, soups, milk, eggs and canned fruits and vegetables. The meijer gift card program started in 2023 has been a huge help funding & supplying our food pantries.
The leonard terrace is a senior citizen food pantry. It generally serves 60-65 residents each month through a mobile food pantry at that site which is located in a grand rapids housing complex. It is a client choice food pantry with a wide variety of foods, provided in a grocery store type set-up.
The ne supper house program served close to 1,000 individuals in 2023. A nutritious hot meal is served every week for our neighbors in need which fosters Community and stronger family/neighbor ties also fights hunger. Meals are served to people in need restaurant style, which promotes dignity and respect. Partnerships with individuals, families, churches and businesses work together to make this a sucess on a weekly basis.
