Our Community Health Support program aims to, among other things, "invest in our future health care workforce solutions". To that end we have supported programs that provide education in healthcare related fields to support the local hospital and clinic.
The Restorative Justice program was adopted by the NSHCF in 2020 to ensure its sustainability. The NSHCF works with the Cook County Sherrif's office, Board of Commissioners, County Attorney's office, county schools, PHHS and Grand Portage Tribal Council and is overseen by a volunteer committee. In 2023 there were over 30 volunteers involved in this program that conceives of justice as repairing harm done, giving greater satisfaction to the victim and keeping offenders out of the detrimental prison system. Volunteers donated over $149,360 worth of their time to bring accountability, restitution and shared agreement regarding reparation to members of our community adversely affected by crime or relational conflict.
