Program areas at Northcott Neighborhood House
Employment and construction programs: -providing training to adjudicated young people in the construction trades building new homes. We help the participants acquire their ged and certifications needed to work in specialized areas of the construction trades. -the milwaukee builds area works with young people to acquire specialized skills in the construction trades by rehabilitating properties. The program offers the participants a fresh start while giving the community we serve a fresh look, combating community deterioration.-urban arborist: Northcott provides job seekers training for the urban arborist pre-apprenticeship program with instruction at matc and the Northcott curriculum including classroom and hands on activities.
Transform milwaukee jobs: this program transitions individuals to stable, unsubsidized employment to ensure that both parents can support children. It enhances parental capacities and long-term child safety through stable unsubsidized employment.
Community: -food: the organization provides stock boxes to over 1,000 senior citizens monthly and provides food pantry access to citizens. Northcott can be found by those who need emergency food on 211 website.-juneteenth: Northcott had its 50th anniversery celebrating junteenth. Over 200 volunteers gathered to celebrate with a juneteenth parade and with a new kids zone with rides, games, petting zoo, and free food for the youth. -thanksgiving and holiday gift celebrations: thousands were blessed by Northcott through the providing of thanksgiving dinner and holiday gifts. -youth after school programs at mps community learning centers and for Neighborhood youth. Summer programs for teens and pre-teens, sports leagues, computer lab, leadership development and aoda prevention. Arts and other special programs.
