Since 1967, Northeast Contemporary Services, Inc. (ncsi) has provided exemplary Services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they explore and participate in employment/career building, educational/independent living skills, and retirement opportunities. Our mission is to inspire and cultivate self-sufficiency in people with disabilities through expanding individual choices for fulfillment and improved quality of life.ncsi is licensed by the Minnesota department of human Services to provide day support Services. Day support is an individualized community-based training and support service that helps a person who has intellectual and developmental disabilities to develop and maintain essential life skills and personally enriching life skills so they can access and participate in activities they prefer in their community. Within day support, we have both an adult and a senior program.our adult program is a highly-structured curriculum-based service that provides individuals with opportunities for training, supervision and support in essential life-skill areas, including, but not limited to: communicationl community access, mobility and safety; independent living; interest-based decision-making; money management and budgeting; personal health and wellness; positive behavior support; problem-solving and conflict resolution; personal self-care; self-direction and goal-setting; and socialization (i.e., social skills development and relationship-building).our senior program provides learning opportunities and support in individuals' preferred life-enriching activities, including: volunteer experiences; connecting with and learning about the use of various community ersources; developing and strengthening personal relationships in the community; recreational and fitness activities; establishing informal supports in the community; exploring community activities; educational or training courses in the community; leisure and hobby activities; and participation in community and civic events.ncsi is also licensed to provide employement development and employment support services.employment development is individualized and designed to help a person who has intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve competitive, integrated employment, become self-employed or establish a microenterprise business in his/her community. We use the discovering personal genius process of customized job development, and assist with resume design, employment application completion, and interview skill building. The employment support service helps people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities maintain paid employment in community businesses/settings, including temporary on-the-job coaching and follow-along Services.
