Program areas at Northeast Florida Area Health Education Center
Northeast Florida ahec has made it a priority to provide tobacco cessation opportunities throughout the region, while training current and future healthcare professionals on how to assist tobacco-using patients. In addition, assistance is provided to worksites interested in providing cessation resources and information to their employees. The region consists of baker, claly, duval, flagler, nassau, st. johns, and volusia counties.
Northeast Florida ahec coordinates federal model program activities and rotations in the seven county Area of baker, clay, duval, flagler, nassau, st. johns, and volusia. By providing clinical rotations and service learning projects for a variety of college students, Northeast Florida ahec is making a positive impact on the Health services of tomorrow. The local community benefits from the care of promising, dedicated individuals, while students have an opportunity to lend a much needed hand while gaining real world experience.
Through the support of eldersource and the dapartment of elder affairs, Northeast Florida ahec provides a variety of educational programs for seniors. These evidence-based programs are offered throughout Northeast Florida and address current issues such as Florida injury prevention program for seniors (flips), physical activity and nutrition, chronic disease management, the risks of gambling, mental wellness, medications management, osteoporosis Education, and senior sexuality.
