Program areas at Northern Virginia Mediation Services
The organization provides basic and advanced workshops and courses in conflict management skills including Mediation, facilitation, conflict management skills, communication, problem solving, ethics, managing eeo disputes, and more nvms basic Mediation processes and skills training lead to Mediation certification by the supreme court of Virginia additional courses allow mediators to recertify and receive continuing Mediation education (cme) credits as well as continuing legal education (cle) credits and society for human resource management (shrm) credits. In 2023, most training were delivered virtually.
Restorative justice: the organization provides restorative justice conferences and circles for youth in public schools and those referred by juvenile courts and police the facilitated dialogues address accountability and repair harm around a range of issues including bullying, fights, discipline, theft and property damage. The organization invites victims to participate voluntarily. In 2023, the organization delivered Services remotely for pre-conferences, and in-person for the full conference.
The organization provides voluntary alternative dispute resolution Services in the form of professional, neutral third-party Mediation and facilitation, helping community residents to resolve their disputes through effective collaborative processes that reduce the time and cost required to handle conflicts can maintain relationships through communication respect and mutual understanding and help to find common ground. In 2023, we returned to in-person court Mediation and private family Mediation. Some Services continued to take place remotely by zoom.
