"open house and "meet your friend the firefighter" are held in the fall of each year to which the entire community is invited. Several stations are set up to educate the public on points of interest regarding safety. Some of the stations in the program include: (1) smoke house - to learn of the conditions of a smoke-filled room and how to react and exit safely; (2) firefighters in turnout gear - to allay the fears of young children when encountering firefighters and ems personnel; (3) Fire safety instruction for the home and for commercial and high-rise buildings; (4) familiarization with ems services and the ambulance; (5) the importance and proper use of vehicle infant and child seats; (6) bicycle safety and protective helmets; and (7) stop, drop, and roll practice.

"Fire prevention program" for the over 900 elementary school children, grades k thru 4, and for the 160 children in the community's day care facilities, who are given instruction on Fire and personal safety. Educational materials and firefighter demonstrations are provided for the students, school staff, and for the students' parents and family members.
