Youth homelessness demonstration program - provides transitional housing and rapid rehousing for youth in suburban cook county.
Rent assistance: provides direct financial assistance for housing, dependent on requirements of specific funding programs. Most programs include household income limitations, limits to financial assistance per household, and may include geographical restrictions.
Food connection program: assists clients who are unable to provide enough food for themselves and their families with perishable and nonperishable food items to supplement their food budget.
Transitional living: assists working homeless families by providing affordable housing. Provides safe housing,guidance, and helps clients to gain control of their finances, learn new life and money management skills, and set goals to achieve greater self-detennination and independence. Rents for the 8-units in jefferson house,des plaines, Illinois, and the 7-units of apartments located throughout the Northwest suburbs of chicago, are tied to the family's level of income.
Housing counseling and education: provides counseling and assistance to help stabilize a family's current housing situation, as well as provide counseling and assistance for a variety of circumstances.
Helping hands: provides financial assistance based on fund availability and client eligibility requirements to people experiencing an unexpected crisis. The program eliminates the monetary hardship and allows clients to remain stable in their everyday lives.
Helping youth on path to empowerment (hype): working with area networks of social service agencies, schools, post-secondary and vocational training providers, hype provides guidance and life support services to persons 18 to 24 years of age without family support. This program focuses on personal stability including health, safety, economic stability, and housing for homeless youth.
