Program areas at Northwest Pilot Project
Housing: the core service provided to the community by nwpp is the senior housing program. Nwpp provides advocacy and emergency financial support to prevent evictions; emergency housing; assistance finding permanent affordable housing; housing vouchers; transportation and relocation and moving assistance to seniors age 55 and older living in multnomah county. This program connected over 2,600 households with a combination of the following services; housing information, resources, and support over the last year. Assisted 179 households move from homelessness into permanent, stable housing. Provided one-on-one housing case management to 203 housholds who might have otherwise been discouraged or defeated by the complicated process to get subsidized housing. 249 households received homeless prevention services, either through rent assistance or help moving to a more affordable apartment.
Advocacy: at the core of the direct services provided to clients is nwpp's advocacy to preserve and protect affordable housing in multnomah county. Over the years many affordable housing units have been lost. Nwpp has adopted an advocacy action plan that focuses on increasing the supply, affordability and accessibility of housing for very low-income seniors.
