The Norwalk Education Foundation's mission is to provide support for whole student learning experiences and enrich teaching practices. They accomplish this by collaborating with community partners to fund programs that enhance student learning, promote student wellness, and strengthen teacher excellence. Each year, NEF awards grants for proposals in all subject areas that foster overall value and creativity, collaboration among grades, classes and cultures, as well as partnerships with parents and the community.

Program areas at Norwalk Education Foundation

Classroom grants for excellence - each year, nef awards grants for proposals in all subject areas that foster, among other criteria, overall value and creativity, collaborating among grades, classes and cultures, partnerships with parents and the community, meeting curriculum objectives, improving opportunity and achivement, a clearly defined evaluation process, long term sustainability, and replication potential for other schools.
Student learning & well being - student learning & well-being focuses on the overall wellness of the students by providing activities focused on the mental health and fitness.
Excellence in Education awards - the excellence in Education awards were launched during fiscal year 2017. The program recognizes teachers from Norwalk public schools for their excellence throughout the school year.
College readiness - college readiness programs help prepare Norwalk public school students for college success through mentoring, sat preparation, college planning and assistance with college essay writting. Community outreach - this category includes other Education advocacy costs and partnership programs.
