Program areas at Nuclear Age Peace Foundation
Reverse the Trend Save Our Planet Save Our People is a youth initiative of the Nuclear Age Peace Founcation focused on amplifying the voices of young people particularly those from affected communities on the twin threats of nuclear weapons and climate change. To this end we have organized numerous in-person and virtual events and sponsored travel to meetings and conferences for a couple of dozen young people to participate in and contribute to those gatherings.
We play an active role in the promotion and implementation of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons TPNW as part of and alongside other prominent groups including the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons ICAN International Physicians for Prevention of Nuclear War IPPNW and others. We participate in meetings deliver statements write for the general public and work most specifically on the positive obligations of the treaty for victim assistance and environmental remediation.
We held online and live events to raise awareness of nuclear dangers arising from the Ukraine War and broader global instability as well as the sheer existence of nuclear weapons. * Nuclear Dangers Series: a series of virtual discussions with leading thinkers experts and intellectuals * Sadako Peace Day: a commemorative event in honor of victims of atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki * Evening for Peace: an event celebrating a leader dedicated to peace in the world * Kelly Lecture: a lecture by a distinguished academic on the future of humanity * Lifetime Achievement Award: evening celebrating a key figure and their lifetime achievement in peace and nuclear disarmament
