Nyc Salt engages, inspires, and empowers low-income, predominantly immigrant youth in NYC to reach their full potential through photography. The organization provides individualized mentoring and offers a multi-year digital photography residency program for high school students interested in pursuing careers in the creative industries. Residency & special projects - the nyc salt residency program is a multi-year digital photography, college prep and career readiness program for high school students in nyc interested in pursuing careers and majors in college focused on the creative industry. Students receive individualized college help, mentoring from an industry professional and develop portfolios for college.
College prep - nyc salt provides college prep workshops and guidance through a college guidance counselor to our residency students. The students are given workshops on all aspects of preparing for college, six months of act prep classes, and a college bootcamp the summer prior to their senior year.
Workshops & camp - nyc salt utilizes professional photographers and editors as teaching artists to teach school year and summer workshops in the basics for digital photography and social media. The program gives students a knowledge of visual story telling while also exposing students to career options in the creative industry through field trips.
