Oakland Chamber Grants - The foundation serves as the Chambers Charitable arm and raises funds in support of the Chambers programs including Leadership development Program titled Leadership Oakland, Philanthropic support of Oaklands unhoused residents and various workforce development, economic development and public safety endeavours.
Community Kitchens: The Foundation partnered with Community Kitchens and Oaklandrestaurants to provide hot meals for those in need during the Covid-19 crisis. Fundsraised are used to purchase low-cost meals from Oakland restaurants. Over 4,000members of our community are unhoused and without access to one hot meal every day.Our meals go out to meet the food needs of Oakland's unhoused, shut-in seniors, andothers who are without other means. The Independent Restaurant Coalition predictsthat up to 85% of independent restaurants could close due to the pandemic.Nationwide, 50% of restaurant industry workers have already been laid off. Therevenues earned by our restaurant partners is a lifeline.
