In the day-to-day of modern life, humanity has largely forgotten our role within the earth's larger ecosystems, and has grown increasingly disconnected from the ocean as the beating heart and lifeblood of the natural world. As a result, we have fallen out of balance with nature, and driven our blue planet to its now dire state. Our origin program appeals to emotion and touches people's hearts to reconnect humanity to the ocean as the lifeblood of the earth. Origin accomplishes this through education, experiences, think tanks, cultural gatherings, and cross-channel communication centered on art, wellness, innovation, ancient wisdom, and science Oceanic Global has launched over 38 Global educational campaigns, partnered with over 16 universities and over 180 artists, and has activated ocean conservation initiatives in over 26 countries around the world. In addition, Oceanic Global has been the official non-profit and production partner to united nations world oceans day since 2019, reaching 1mm+ people over 155 countries with free ocean education each year.
Empowering local leaders to make conservation inherent within communities is key to creating a Foundation for lasting change. Oceanic Global's hubs program nurtures volunteer-based extensions of the Oceanic Global team, designed to drive localized impact on a Global scale. Hub leadership receives guidance from og's headquarters in carrying out the broader Oceanic Global mission by hosting events, implementing the blue standard and other industry solutions amongst local stakeholders. Primarily situated in coastal cities, the hubs additionally work with local decision-makers to support conservation efforts and to help set new precedents for environmental stewardship within their regions. Oceanic Global's current hub locations include: new york, hamptons, london, los angeles, and barcelona. Recurring hub activations include: film screenings, beach clean-ups, art-exhibitions, panel discussions, workshops and more.
Industry is a key driver of devastation for our blue planet but it doesn't need to be. Oceanic Global's first-of-it's-kind cross-industry standard, the blue standard (blue), empowers industries and businesses of all sizes to achieve measurable impact that protects our blue planet and establishes universal accountability for sustainable business leadership. Becoming blue verified means taking responsibility for our shared blue planet and all it sustains. Consisting of both 3-year business operations seals as well as seals for plastic free product and packaging, blue standard verification is awarded to relevant participating businesses to celebrate positive action and to encourage continued commitments that prioritize the health of our collective future. Through the blue program, Oceanic Global has engaged over 500+ businesses across 50+ countries and built a network of over 130 trained consultants, and 300+ sustainable vendors offering alternatives to environmentally detrimental products and processes. It has also helped shape seven policies banning single-use plastics in the us, new york state, new york city, spain, barbados, and italy so far.
With coastal communities amongst the most vulnerable to the impending threats of climate change, Oceanic Global's grants program places power back into the hands of those most impacted, to help them protect the ecosystems and communities they depend on, as well as to honor and learn from their knowledge. Oceanic Global's grants allocate funding to the most in-need projects focused on establishing local and community-led resilience. Oceanic Global works with a Global team of partners and advisors to identify and vet grant recipients, as well as to ensure all of og's programmatic areas work to uplift and further support the needs of those on the frontlines of growing climate risks.
