Tourism promotion via digital advertising campaigns, geofencing, website banners, social media banners, direct contact with visitors via email, newsletters, phone inquiries, press releases and website updates (visitocracokenc.com and visitnc.com). Distributed information about Ocracoke via production of yearly walking map brochure (75,000 copies) which is circulated to local businesses, welcome centers, rest stops and cvb's throughout north carolina. Hosted local destination events including the Ocracoke independence day celebration, community holiday lighting, holiday gift market and island wide yard sale. These hosted events have had over 10,000 attendees. During fiscal year 2019/2020, the organization received a grant in the amount of 35,719 from the hyde county Ocracoke occupancy tax board (otb)and a grant in the amount of 169,216 from the Ocracoke township tourism development authority (ottda). The otb grant was used to fund various advertising campaigns and events during the fiscal year. The otta grant covered the period of july 1, 2019 through june 30, 2020 and it was utilized for comprehensive tourism related services for Ocracoke island. This ottda grant funded the organization as it oversaw and implemented travel and tourism related marketing and promotional activities and expenditures, had a professional marketing firm execute on it previously adopted strategic marketing plan, maintained and supplied a visitor's center in Ocracoke village, marketed and promoted tourism related events and maintained and refreshed the www.visitocracokenc.com website and that website's integration with www.visitnc.com and other appropriate digital or electronic platforms and the employment of an executive director and such other staff as deemed necessary to provide the aforesaid services.
