Program areas at Off-The-Grid Missions
offthegridTURKIYE: OTG launched a two-part mission in response to the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, overcoming distinct regional landscapes and political challenges to deliver life-saving aid. OTG strategically created safe routes with a network of teams to reach earthquake-hit areas, including homes, refugee camps, and shelters, supporting DHHDBDD survivors and their families. The teams provided essential items such as solar lights with mobile charging units, clothing, footwear, blankets, medical supplies, and clean water filtration systems, addressing critical accessibility gaps. This vital response ensured that DHHDBDD communities received the resources needed to navigate the aftermath of the earthquakes and ongoing aftershocks, while also addressing the challenges of living in refugee camps and other vulnerable conditions.
offthegridMAUI: Following the deadly wildfire in Lahaina, OTG launched a four-part mission to support Hawaiis DHHDBDD Community. OTG established an Emergency Hub to address the lack of accessible information, providing real-time updates on shelter and aid distribution, including hot meals, free breast milk, hygiene care, hearing aid batteries, and Deaf-led mental health resources. OTG also hosted disaster preparedness and response workshops for DHHDBDD leaders, focusing on sustainable relief and maximizing limited aid to support their communities in Hawaiis isolated regions. Essential resources, including solar lights with USB chargers, battery packs for Deaf-led teams, clean water filtration systems, and reusable period pads, were delivered to areas in need. Additionally, OTG positioned sustainable relief supplies, such as solar lights and water filtration systems, in Honolulu to prepare for future disasters and address critical accessibility gaps across Hawaii as needed.
offthegridHAITI Crisis: OTG remains a critical lifeline for Haiti's DHHDBDD community amidst the countrys collapse, marked by government failure, gang control, closures of aid organizations, kidnappings, cholera outbreaks, and devastating floods. Over the past year, OTG has persevered through immense challenges, scaling operations, forging new partnerships, and delivering life-saving support. The team has transported families to hospitals, advocated for care, and covered medical expenses, including surgeries and burial costs. Essential supplies such as food, baby formula, mattresses, bedding, hygiene products, and reusable period pads have been distributed despite frequent gang-related disruptions. Aid deliveries are often delayed by gang blockades, forcing OTG to evacuate victims via motorbike, enduring hours-long journeys across rough terrain to reach safe zones and medical care. Yet, OTGs work serves as a lifeline for Haitis DHHDBDD community, offering critical support and saving lives. In the absence of OTG, essential aid for DHH people in Haiti would not exist. To meet the growing needs of this extremely vulnerable population, OTG continues to rely on monthly donations to sustain its operations.
