Program areas at Ohio United Way
MEMBER SUPPORT.Ohio United Way provides ongoing training, education, and support for member organizations. Additionaly, OUW convenes resources to assist members in reaching their goals and proactively informing members of relevant issues and best practices. Training includes, but is not limited to the following: community impact, organizational and resource development: public policy advocacy in the areas of health and financial stability for families; and education. Special notices and press releases are provided to inform members about information regarding the organization, public policy, and Ohio 2-1-1.
PUBLIC POLICY/GOVERNMENT RELATIONS.Ohio United Way (OUW), our members and Public Policy Committee continue to be a resource for Ohio Legislators regarding health and human services policy development and the state budget regarding issues impacting health, education, and income. Each year OUWs Public Policy committee develops and publishes white papers outlining OUWs position on the years identified priorities. OUW also works closely with our US Senators and members of Congress on issues affecting the work of non-profits and local United Ways as it relates to health and human services. In addition to regular visits to the Ohio statehouse and Washington DC, OUW hosts Lobby Day each April, bringing our members and Ohio legislators together for a legislative luncheon allowing our members to meet one-on-one with their local state legislators and providing an opportunity to discuss local needs and issues.
MEMBERSHIP/GRANT DEVELOPMENT: Work related to identifying any untapped sources of support, developing the Resource Database, and securing funding to expand and enhance statewide initiatives, programs and services for the benefit of member United Ways in Ohio.
