Osdfs main activity is the annual festival which promotes & raises funds at the annual Oklahoma festival. Osdf provides a vintage car, purchases the tickets and the dancers sell the tickets for $1 osdf prepares for the november festival all year. A 99 corvette convertible was purchased in feb, 2020 for $14,000. It was stored for the 2022 festival. The car was booked as a prepaid expense. We did hold a small festival in nov. of 2022, we had 330 dancers in attendence. We held workshops to help the dancers relearn the Dance moves.
Osdf sponsors a fund raiser Dance to help support the shriners provide transportation to dallas where the main burn facility is located. All revenue raised is donated to the shriners organization. Osdf also holds an annual meeting and Dance for the benefit of the dancers. It is supposed to be a zero cost.
In an effort to fulfill the osdf mission to educate and promote Square and round dancing, osdf normally holds 1 annual festival in november each year and 1 roundup in september. During these events they provide educational instruction to promote and share ideas for growing this cultural event in the state of Oklahoma. They also hold board meetings during those times to discuss and conduct the business of osdf. They hold several dances and workshops that are open to the public. The volunteers pay their own expenses to attend all activities. In an effort to promote Square dancing around the state and visit other clubs and districts the Federation has a visit 9 program. When dancers visit the preselected dances they will purchase small dangles from each district. They then wear the dangles at other dances.
