The Great West Chili Fest was held in October 2015. We had several different community organizations and individual families cooking and serving chili. We sell tasting kits so everyone can taste and vote on their favorite chili. We had several bands for entertainment throughout the event. We run the Chili Cafe which sells hotdogs, chili, chips, pop and water. We also sell a special t-shirt and chili beads to make the day festive. On the Creek Council House lawn we had several merchandise vendors selling everything from art to sunglasses.
Sparkle Spree is an annual cash give-a-way from downtown merchants that runs from the day after Thanksgiving until the Saturday before Christmas each year. Participating merchants donate $100.00 each to cover the cost of advertising and tickets. Sponsors pay for the event, which gives away a total of $5,000.00. Each merchant gives a ticket for every $10.00 purchase and they are all put in a hopper to be drawn from. Starting on Thanksgiving weekend, $250.00 is given away each Saturday. On the last Saturday before Christmas, cash prizes of 3-$50.00, 3-$100.00, 2-$200.00, 1-$300.00 and 1-$2,000.00 are given away. A hard luck prize of $100.00 is drawn and given away the day after Christmas.
