Classroom grants: Olathe students benefit when their teachers apply for opsf classroom grants. Their innovative ideas pave the way for learning excellence. Teachers identify ways they can help students learn and grow including projects utilizing diverse and dual-language books, materials to support hands-on science and engineering concepts, access to new visual arts materials, tools for students to conduct dna analysis and more.
College scholarships: the opsf facilitates the awarding of 67 named scholarships to graduating Olathe senior students. The sources of funds for these scholarships run the gamut from endowed funds from estate gifts to annual support donations from alumni groups and grateful families.
Student need: with 29% of students in Olathe living at or below the poverty line, the Olathe Public Schools Foundation focuses significant efforts on supporting their unique needs. Through the following funds, the opsf ensures Olathe every student has what they need to be in class ready to learn: student health emergency fund, wimmer student care fund, school supply program, homeless outreach fund, families in need (meals) fund, braden robertson student mental health fund, backsnack food program (weekend meals), muffin fund (school break meals); and college now (credit earned while still in high school) scholarships through the a.l.l. Fund.
