Restoration: in 2023 Olympia Ecosystems began the arduous process of preparing the newly acquired 367.18-acre deschutes river preserve for restoration. This included demolishing over 25,000 square feet of derelict farm infrastructure including a large dairy barn, removing a fish blocking bridge and removing tons of debris and rubble from the site.
Restoration:simultaneous to the demolition work in deschutes river preserve, in 2023 Olympia Ecosystems continued restoration of its three other preserves: cooper crest preserve, green cove creek, and west bay woods. In partnership with community members, volunteers and the Washington conservation corp paths and staircases were completed, hundreds of thousands of invasive plants removed, and over 20,000 additional native plants were planted.
