Program areas at One DC
Bwwc:the One DC black workers & wellness center is a member-led community & wellness space in anacostia that builds racial & economic justice through popular education, promotion of sustainable employment, & the incubation of economic alternatives.
Cooperation dc:cooperation DC builds a city-wide, long-term, dual strategy toward racial and economic justice through (i) popular & technical education, (ii) direct action, (iii) worker-owned alternatives, (iv) leadership development, and (v) advocacy. Cooperation DC organizes to create sustainable, regenerative, dignified black work and training opportunities to support the broader solidarity economy movement in DC.
Right to housing:the right to housing campaign is a space for long-time DC residents struggling against displacement and for safe and affordable housing to come together with allies to build collective power. We fight to gain greater community control of land and housing by Organizing with tenants to resist landlord's & developer's displacement tactics; converting tenant buildings into cooperatives; or winning resident's right to return. Through direct action, political education, and a slew of other Organizing strategies, we work to ensure that housing remains truly affordable and seek to minimize citywide efforts to privatize and demolish much-needed subsidized housing.
