Program areas at Onondaga Community College Association
Intercollegiate athletics, intramurals, and club sports revenue supports the 15 intercollegiate njcaa sport teams, as well as the intramural and club sports, serving over 500 students annually. The overall focus of the athletic department remains to support the academic mission of the College and support students through a holistic approach to see the academic, personal and social growth and gains of each student.
Office of student orientation, leadership and engagement financial support of over twenty student-run clubs, committees and leadership activities; arts across campus, an initiative supporting fine arts and related music performances and art exhibits on campus; as well as providing social events for students. These activities and services were offered to over 4,000 full and part-time students at Onondaga Community College during the academic year. These student fee revenues also support phi theta kappa (ptk) national honor society on campus. Ptk's mission is to recognize and encourage the academic achievements of occ's students and to provide opportunities for growth and development through participation in scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service.
Children's learning center provides quality child care to student/parents and provides a hands-on training opportunity for students enrolled in the early childhood education curriculum. The program serves approximately 100 students.
New student programming supports new students as they enter Onondaga Community College. Initiatives supported in this area include an orientation program, a program designed to help incoming students connect with the institution and receive pertinent information to get them started on the completion of their goals, and "welcome Onondaga", a program designed to highlight the beginning of each semester with both educational and engaging activities that connect incoming students to the institution. These initiatives have received positive feedback from participants through survey data collected and are continuing to be refined to strengthen their impact on students.
Administrative revenue supports the campus id system, used by students and employees as their main identification on campus, allowing access as appropriate to areas on campus, as well as a payment mechanism for meals and other expenses on camp
Enterprise services (lazercard) supports the on-campus card service operation allowing students to have an "all in one" card for entering buildings on campus, access to educational resources, as well as access to on and off campus services such as vending, laundry, and dining options.
Student transit supports the on-campus lazerline, which runs not only a route on campus but also provides transportation services to off-campus destinations such as target, destiny usa, and other local attractions.
