Transitional housing: arthur cassell memorial transitional house program at Open Door Ministries is a transitional living facility for homeless men who have a desire to live independently in the High Point community. The program which implements the disease model ofaddiction to assist residents affect change. This is a cognitive behavioral spiritual approach helps residents through the stages of transition from being homeless and jobless to obtaining employment and permanent housing and a sense of general well being.
Permanent supportive housing: the program partners with other agencies and services to assist the client in working on a self-sufficient lifestyle. They receive furniture and other items that make their apartment feel like a home, as well as on-going case management and housing assistance. This program is designed for those who have physical and/or mental disabilities while experiencing chronic homelessness and are in need of consistent monitoring of their situation. Simple check-in's, case management and more are offered to provide opportunities for those in this program to grow. All of those in this program are either men or women over the age of 18.
Shelter: the men's shelter program at Open Door Ministries is a facility designed to house adult homeless men on a temporary basis. First preference is given to the High Point resident followed by the guilford county resident. Clients go an entrance screening before beingaccepted to the facility. They must be 18 years of age and cannot be a sex offender. The shelter offers 66 beds for the general populations, and ten beds for treatment program and six beds in the overflow dormitory. Additional mattresses are set up in the cold months to handle the overflow.
Other services provided are all designed to prevent and end hunger and homelessness through advocacy, education, housing and coordination of services.
