Program areas at Opening Doors for Westerly's Children
Our programs provide essential education related materials (books,backpacks,school supplies) and summer reading books for Children (k-5) who are enrolled in the westerly school district and may qualify for the national school lunch program (nslp). Under our programs, we promote literacy by encouraging the development of personal libraries, access to print and digital books, and internet content for participating Children in the westerly school district.
Our various programs and events provide opportunities for the organization to share its mission, to educate the community of the needs of the Children (k-5) and their families in the westerly school district, and provides opportunities for community members to engage with our organization to serve and support Westerly's Children (k-5) in need.
Our summer learning and before & afterschool sponsorship programs provide Children (k-5) who are enrolled in the westerly school district and may qualify for the national school lunch program (nslp) the opportunity to participate in the westerly public schools hasbro summer learning initiative - a 6-week program designed to prevent summer set-back in learning. In addition, our programs aid families to cover costs associated with before and afterschool care at tower street school, westerly, rhode island.
