Opportunities Alternatives and Resources of Tompkins County provides support, assistance, counseling, and advocacy for inmates of the Tompkins County Jail as well as individuals in Tompkins County recently released from jail. The organization is part of College initiative upstate, a learning community of educators, students, and volunteers who are working together to build pathways from criminal justice involvement to college and beyond. It has also prepared a residence to provide transitional housing for formerly incarcerated men committed to sober living.

Prepared residences with the intention to provide transitional, low-barrier, affordable housing for formerly incarcerated individuals committed to sober living. In 2023 the organization operated two residence programs in collaboration with local organizations, ithaca neighborhood housing service inhs and ultimate rentry opportunity uro.
College initiative upstate is a learning community of educators, students, and volunteers who are working together to build pathways from criminal justice involvement to college and beyond.
