Program areas at Oregon Latino Health Coalition
Outreach and education program: implementation of the healthier Oregon program: to ensure every individual has access to the Oregon Health plan (ohp), the Oregon Latino Health Coalition (olhc) serves as the grantee of the healthier program for multnomah and clackamas counties. Olhc provides culturally/linguistically responsive ohp support with community ohp-certified organizations that along with olhc's 3 community Health workers (staff), are the specialty network for three cak/ohp activities: (1) community-based outreach; (2) enrollment; (3) Health system navigation.
Olhc staff lead and/or participate in advocacy that results in a public policy change that will eliminate Health disparities and improve the Health care status of latinos and latinas in Oregon. The policy & advocacy team have implemented the access to our healthier Oregon program. Additionally, the team has focused and have researched local and national tobacco preventative policies and have completed a policy and data brief regarding latinos tobacco trends in Oregon. Lastly, the Latino emotional Health collaborative (lehc) has been around since 2019 and it is a group of Latino specific service organizations in the portland metro region, working to define address mental and behavioral Health service gaps for the Latino community in Oregon. Priority areas in the lehc strategic plan include the follwing: professional development for Latino and latina mental Health providers, advocate for latinx emotional and mental Health as a statewide priority and advance public policy, and assess latinx data and service gaps.
