Program areas at OVP
Visual Media Advocacy Project - The Organization for Visual Progression (OVP) equips civil society organizations with the capacity to use video to document social justice issues and promote equitable and sustainable development. OVP helps organizations by strengthening their skills and strategies by integrating video technologies that support their advocacy work. In 2013, OVP has trained an additional ten organizations across Sri Lanka and added several new components to its curriculum, including new research methodologies and project management skills. Partners in Sri Lanka who successfully completed OVP's trainings have collaborated with OVP on visual productions focusing on Labor Migration, Women's rights, Education Rights, Rehabilitation for the Handicapped, Sustainable Farming, and Gender Rights, among others. OVP has also successfully implemented an impact evaluation, to discuss with partners how these collaborations have positively changed or strengthened their campaigns and field operations.
OVP has also conducted a capacity training in the Middle East with a Women's rights collective, focusing on advocacy strategies and research methodologies. This was part of a pilot and will likely continue in 2014.
