Orpheus Project comissioned the writing of, then produced and performed an original opera, the princess sophia, for an audiences totalling approximately 3,000. The new opera, the princess sophia, by emerson eads and dave hunsaker, brought together many aspects of performance, art, and community. It involved a very high percentage of local juneau singers, instrumentalists, dancers, and designers, who were paired with high level professionals in every aspect of the production. This production set a new standard for opera in juneau for production value, community involvement, and professionalism. The opera also holds historical significance to the community of juneau Alaska, and canada, as it set the tragic sinking of the ship (zero survivors), the princess sophia, to an original music, orchestration, and vocals.
Community performances, coaching and artistic endeavors for the artistic and cultural enrichment of juneau audiences.
