Santa Fe Bone Symposium - The Santa Fe Bone Symposium, established in 2000, is an annual forum devoted to advances in the science and economics of osteoporosis, other metabolic bone diseases, and assessment of skeletal health. This meeting is for healthcare providers, scientists, and researchers with a special interest in bone disease, and for bone densitometry technologists who seek a high level of knowledge in their field. The 2023 Santa Fe Bone Symposium was hybrid, with 266 in-person attendees and 194 virtual attendees attending remotely in real-time. Enduring material included proceedings published in a peer-reviewed medical journal, with online archived videos for CME, and audio recordings.
Western Osteoporosis Alliance (WOA) The Osteoporosis Foundation of New Mexico received a grant for the WOA to develop a publication about anabolic treatment for osteoporosis. This publication is in its final stages.Rare bone disease TeleECHO The Foundation has been awarded two grants from two different companies to support the rare bone disease TeleECHO.
Bone Health ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes), established in 2015, is the prototype for technology-enabled collaborative learning for healthcare professionals with and interest in osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases. It was developed by Project ECHO (http://echo.unm.edu/) at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center in collaboration with the Osteoporosis Foundation of New Mexico (http://www.ofnm.org). This consists of weekly 1.5 hour virtual interactive case-based videoconferences every Tuesday from 12:00 Noon to 1:30 PM Mountain Time. The sessions can be attended from any location with Internet access through computer video connections, with an option to join by telephone if desired.
