Program areas at Our Dyslexic Children

Win 1: we formed upper arlington kids identified with dyslexia, or ua-kid, and secured appropriate educational services for Our Children with dyslexia in upper arlington, oh. We formed the dyslexia task force and now work shoulder to shoulder with the district to bring evidence-based reading instruction to all Our school district's Children. Win 2: we built a state-wide grassroots coalition, Ohio kids identified with dyslexia (oh- kid), to organize parent groups in Ohio to secure educational services for all Our Children with dyslexia. We have more than 25 Ohio parent group members representing over 185,000 students. Oh-kid was instrumental in passing the latest Ohio dyslexia legislation and securing the Ohio state board of education's approval of the Ohio dyslexia guidebook. We have also helped create and mentor statewide parent groups in Colorado (co-kid) and Illinois (ielc). Win 3: we fundraised 50,000 via kickstarter and produced the non-profit documentary film Our Dyslexic Children and the accompanying book a strategic roadmap for building a dyslexia parent group to capture lessons learned and inspire families to advocate to secure appropriate educational services for their Children with dyslexia. The film has over 160,000 views and won the best long form short film at the toronto international documentary film festival in 2022. Win 4: we fundraised 40,000 through gofundme and produced building a dyslexia parent group master class.
