Program areas at Our Kids Our Future
As its primary activity, Our Kids Our Future will work to influence legislative, electoral and political processes and the decisions of public officials on legislation and policies that may impact the well-being of children, youth and families.As its secondary activity, Our Kids Our Future will engage community members, particularly parents and caregivers, in advocacy and participation in the political process to advance policy and legislation that supports the well-being of children, youth and families.These activities will be achieved using a variety of engagement tools and tactics, including but not limited to holding of events; hosting online discussion forums; use of social media; direct outreach tools such as phone banking, text banking, and person to person canvassing; hosting educational seminars; development of printed materials, emails and e-newsletters; policy and public research and polling; policy development; and summaries of how various local, state and federal elected officials are voting on key policy issues.
