Program areas at Outgrowing Hunger
Farm Accelerator provides venue training logistical support and market access to 40 immigrant and refugee entrepreneurs. Farmers in this program provided 100% of the vegetables for a season-long CSA serving 50 families and 100% of the produce sold at the Rockwood Peoples Market Farmers market.
Community Garden Operations provides the organization and management of 7 acres of food-producing garden plots at 12 sites located in low-income neighborhoods of the Portland OR Metro Area. Approx. 450 unique households participated in 2023 of which approx. 400 are refugee status. We provide supports such as access to land water tools seeds fertilizer and classes.
Youth Services provides underprivileged youth with paid internships and educational experiences in agriculture and nature stewardship. Approximately 30 youth completed summer internships with the Nadaka nature camp. Youth Services also provided wrap-around supportive services to 200 families with food boxes household goods and resource navigation. Outgrowing Hunger contracts exclusively with Play Grow Learn LLC to manage and operate this program.
