Program areas at Overcoming Obstacles
Curriculum development & distribution - the program provides educators with lessons designed to teach students communication, decision making, goal setting, character development, respect and responsibility, conflict resolution, problem solving and study skills. Other skills addressed are time management, stress and anger management, service learning and leadership. for the high school level the program offers additional lessons, college preparation, career preparation, and financial management.
Professional development - provides comprehensive orientation for those seeking to use the curriculum to its fullest extent. The orientation includes an introduction to the methodology and structure of the program, hands-on experience with the curriculum materials, lesson modeling and analysis and assistance with planning for implementation.
Publishes and provides the Overcoming Obstacles life skills Education curriculum to all k-12 educators for free.
