$20,000 for the tread lightly! Stewardship project. The stewardship project was executed in conjunction with Overland Expo events serving four public lands areas that needed restoration, clean up, education and maintenance. 114 participating volunteers impacted 45,878 square miles of public land, removed 6,850 pounds of trash, rehabed 8 firepits, and installed 26 informational signs. The project will benefit thousands of people who use the public lands on a regular basis.
$6,000 to fund the wilderness volunteers hole in the rock road naturalization project. 10 volunteers removed 19 illegal campfire rings, closed and naturalized 7 illegal campsites, rebuilt 8 campfire rings, closed and naturalized 14 unauthorized "ways" (paths/roads), constructed 2 rock baskets, installed 14 signs, and removed 1,100 pounds of trash and charcoal. Visitors will be able to enjoy a cleaner, more natural hole in the rock road, with clearer camping and roadway designations. This project makes visitor travel more sustainable in the long term, which will affect users for many years to come.
$9,000 to fund two wolf Foundation's warrior stewardship team 003. 6 military veterans and first responders spent a week improving 14 miles of trail including rerouting a section around a stream to protect the Idaho bull trout and other species. Participants not only left the trail better than they found it they returned home with a renewed sense of purpose and hope.
The organization provided $9,788 in grants to multiple causes including backcountry discovery routes, project heal the land, motorcycle relief, and wellspring international outreach to support and further their general mission.
