IN EQUALITY/Flower Power We benefited from the skills and contributions of 22 paid community organizers as we continued to carry community voice into Ramsey County criminal justice transformation at the system wide reform table led by Commissioner Toni Carter. We finalized our role with RESOLVE which is now a fully independent organization. 17 flower artists were contracted to bring finely crafted offerings made with flowers to 4 events for racial justice and healing, . REPAIR We have accelerated our work to develop Reparative Community Circles, with a diverse and solid team of 12 experienced practitioners. We have developed a design-pilot-implement timeline, and begun intensive, monthly design meetings. We brought the Reparative Circle design team an intensive 2-day training with Gene Thin Elk on the great thinking and life instructions from the traditional Red Road teachings.
Indigenous Estate We moderated an online RedTalk Symposium with speakers Nicole MartinsRoger, Robert Lilligren, Hope Flanagan, and Patina Park. This work highlights American Indian thought and experience on a range of topics, including strategic solutions, visions for the future, health and wellness, spirituality, and art (7115 people reached). Voice of the People live streams continued with 3 online (reaching more than 20K viewers). In a special project we worked with MN China Friendship Garden Society to include and unveil a Dakota rock at Lake Phalen. TIWAKAN Over the course of the year we were inspired by the work of more than 60 artists who we were able to give paid work on stage, in galleries, workshops, recorded music and music videos. Examples include: * the Minneapolis film premier of "Rez Comedy" a documentary, to Bryant Lake Bowl. * a special event concert at the Gandhi Mahal garden on the anniversary recognizing George Floyd's murder and the massive racial justice protests that followed. * the Amazon KDP self-publishing of a book of poetry with Trinity Thompson, a Sisseton Wahpeton Dakota inmate in a South Dakota prison. * Produced 2 Buffalo Weaver CD's: The Dark is Getting Bright and Loving Water. * Return of the Herd" concert 1 a backyard event featuring the Buffalo Weavers with Joe Savage and Mikkel Beckmen; * Return of the Herd concert 2 Corey Medina and Brothers in Bemidji. * Both concerts produced music videos. * We contributed to youth art therapy workshops lead by local artist, George Bettleloun, by purchasing art supplies he gifted to the participants who successfully completed the workshop.
