Program areas at Ozark Actors Theatre

Ozark Actors Theatre (oat) is the only professional summer stock Theatre within a 100-mile radius in south central Missouri and has produced more than 120 quality professional theatrical shows and over 30 community productions since its founding in 1989. Oat exists to create the opportunity and location for performing artists to present varied works of Theatre, as well as to enhance the cultural life of the community through performing arts. The Theatre benefits the south-central Missouri region through a robust education program intended to provide substantial and varied opportunities for learning about the human experience through the art of Theatre. Through this education program, oat has staged community and youth productions, some of which have been original works written for the oat stage. Oat achieved small professional Theatre status in 1989 through its ongoing affiliation with Actors' equity association. In recent years, oat developed a performing arts series season which showcases various other performing arts groups and artists from around the state and country.
As one of only two professional summer stock theatres in rural Missouri, oat has produced more than 70 quality professional theatrical shows, including drama, comedies, full scale musicals and musical reviews for several communities located in south central Missouri. Oat achieved status as an equity small professional Theatre in 1989 and is affiliated with the national union of professional Actors and stage managers. In recent years, oat has developed a winter season that showcases various other performing arts groups from around the state and has produced its own holiday show. Oat also serves to draw tourists from around the state and beyond through active tourism programs, hosting several touring groups each summer for the summer stock program as well as the holiday show.
