The Ozaukee County Historical Society continues to maintain its office in the historic interurban depot located in cedarburg, wi and continues to maintain its Ozaukee County pioneer village location in saukville. Ozaukee County pioneer village includes 24 historic structures that date back to 1840. The organization also maintains stony hill school in fredonia, a one-room school from the mid-1800's that is known to be the birthplace of our national flag day.
The Ozaukee County Historical Society completed the cedarburg railroad station that is located at Ozaukee County pioneer village. 2022 year to date expenses were $4,221 for rain gutters and exhibit/display costs.
In 2022, the new welcome center project continued. A plank boardwalk was completed, new electrical service was installed, landscaping and plantings were completed. The project will be completed in 2023. 2022 year to date expenses were $11,145.
In 2022, the Ozaukee County Historical Society launched a new project to restore its historic 1940 milwaukee road caboose. Fundraising efforts started, with grants received from the milwaukee road Historical Society, and the Wisconsin antiquarian Society along with private donations. The Society held a rummage sale where all proceeds were designated for the restoration project.
