Battleship Iowa has grown to become a cultural icon as an inclusive venue to gather and interact with people of diverse backgrounds and ages.
Educational programs - the Pacific Battleship Center utilizes the in-situ environment of Battleship Iowa to address national education deficiencies and spark interest in stem, history, civics, and leadership through innovative education and museum programs. On average, 20,000 students are served annually through field trip and overnight programs.
Veterans program - our veterans program, known as veterans west, serves approximately 25,000 former service members, of all ages and branches, annually. Veterans west operates out of the veterans resource Center aboard Battleship Iowa, a place where service members and their families are welcomed and respected, where they can socialize, enjoy the camaraderie of other veterans in a unique setting, and benefit from a variety of programs and activities to help them re-connect and re-engage in a civilian world. Currently, about half of our volunteer crew is composed of veterans.
