Family assistance: three days each week, or in emergency, we are open to clients seeking financial assistance. Once we receive proof of id, residence, and income (or past income), and we have determined their needs, we assist them as requested (within our guidelines) with rent or mortgage (or a portion thereof), utilities (electric, heating fuel, and water), or medical, dental bills or prescriptions. Additionally, we have clients who are cancer patients for whom we provide nutritional beverages, adult incontenance products, and fuel assistance for treatment visits. Additionally, we have other agencies with whom we work that can further assist our clients if we are unable to assist them fully with their needs. We also occasionally help with baby diapers, formula, and other miscellaneous needs. We help homeless individuals and families with food supplies and a cook stove, warm clothes and blankets in winter, personal hygiene items, and backpacks. In 2023 we served a total of 814 families through our family assistance program.
Food pantry: Page One food pantry is open three days per week and any time for emergencies. In 2023 we were able to help feed over 10,900 individuals, including 2,160 elderlies (65+) and 3,297 children (under 18). We distributed over 302 tons of food. We receive food from the blue ridge area food bank and the usda, as well as from local individuals, churches, and businesses, and from food drives. We also supplement what we receive by purchasing food from local stores.
