Program areas at PALISADES Village

Direct Member Services - Through its network of 220 volunteers. Palisades Village provided 1,813 services to its members in 2023. These services reflect 1277.25 volunteer hours and include medical and general transportation, home visits and food deliveries, referrals for home repair and other services, shopping, yard work, technical assistance for computers and mobile phones, household chores such as changing light bulbs and removing and installing screens. The Village also provided 59.75 hours of professional case management to its members who were experiencing medical or mental health issues. Volunteers also provided support services totaling 4,798.25 hours that included support for the office such as data collection and answering phones and planning and executing social and cultural events and the annual House Tour.
Community Activities - These activities were open to the community at large and not just reserved for members. These activities included distribution of masks and Covid tests free of charge and holding vaccination clinics including transportation if needed. Updates on vaccinations and CDC and DC government guidelines were included in the Village's weekly newsletters. The Village also participates in the Community 4th of July parade and sponsored a baseball night honoring the Nationals, and a community sing-a-long. These events had 582 participants
Events - There were 15 social events in 2023 with 626 attendees and 13 informational programs & author talks with 268 attendees. Book club, foreign policy discussion groups, planner groups and mindful knitting groups totaled 485 participants. Wellness activities including fitness, yoga, pickleball, a weekly walking group and a low vision support group had 940 participants. Some of the events continued to be held on Zoom reflecting the on-going concern about the Covid pandemic.
