Palomar Medical Center Medical Staff

Credentialing: The Medical Staff performs credentialing of all Medical Staff and Allied Health Professional Staff on an ongoiong basis in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws. This includes both new applicants and current members, with current members undergoing reappointment every two years.

Education, Including In-house Seminars: The Medical Staff has a Program for Continuing Medical Education accredited by the Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ). This program provides category I credit for conferences in accordance with IMQ Standards. In addition, Medical Staff and Allied Health Professional Staff are required to submit documentation of continuing medical education hours in support of their maintaining applicable State Licensure.

Evaluation of Quality Control and Oversight of Physicians: The Medical Staff oversees a process whereby all Members authorized to practice in the Hospital have the appropriate delineation of clinical privileges that they may exercise in the Hospital, while assuring ongoing review of each Member's performance. In addition, the Medical Staff Quality Mangement Committee meets on a monthly basis and reviews the performance of the various departments within the Hospital.
