Program areas at Paralyzed Veterans of America - Mountain States Chapter

Advocacy, liaison, services: - we continue to advocate through the Veterans administration for the benefits our members have earned. We actively serve as a watchdog to support the civil rights of our members. We work ardently to ensure that local businesses are ada compliant and that the accessibility within the community serves the needs of the disabled. - mscpva remains involved as an active partner in the development of the va replacement facility at fitzsimons to ensure that the plans for accessibility remain intact and that the center retains all of the essential elements it needs to provide our members with excellent care. - mscpva's auxiliary, (one of only two Chapter auxiliaries in the country) continues to support our ongoing mission and the programs we provide to better serve our membership.
Membership: service to our membership continued to grow in fy 2024 through the continued development of member programs, including: new membership orientation, inclusive membership meetings and external involvement with other veteran service and community disability organizations.
Sports and recreation: - we expanded our recreational programs provided to members, increased the number of grants provided and maintained a very high level of program to administration ratio (68%). We maintain bowling leagues, poker league, pool tournament, bowling tournament, rocky Mountain ride - "learn to" handcycling clinic with craig hospital, adaptive adventures, and others. - we provide allocated grants to our members to support their sports and recreation, education, and physical fitness endeavors.
Communication: we were very successful in our overall communications efforts in 2024 producing many publications, including: the Mountain States news, our membership brochure, volunteer brochure, donors brochure, and organizational information brochures. We also maintain an actively library of resources, including clinical practice guidelines available to our members. We enhanced our website from a passive to an active service interface. We also won a national website award for our efforts.
