Program areas at Parenting Journey
Parent groups and policy work parent groups: our evidence-based parent programs foster community connectedness and reduce stress through The creation of social networks of parents and caregivers. Parenting Journey provides five 12-14 week curricula: Parenting Journey i, Parenting Journey ii, Parenting in america, Parenting in recovery, and Parenting Journey for fathers. Our research shows that parents who participate in Parenting Journey improve in several key areas that are known to promote Family wellbeing.it is proven that parents and children thrive when provided The tools and resources they need to adapt to stress, decrease anxiety and foster healthy interactions and social connectedness with others.policy: our advocacy creates opportunity systems that acknowledge The intersection of economic justice and Parenting, and uplift parent leaders to fight for policies that promote equity. We recognize that inequity adds to The everyday stressors of Parenting, perpetuates cycles of poverty and trauma, and prevents parents from realizing The futures they, and their families, deserve. We facilitate parents organizing around The issues that matter to them, and hold space for them to create strategies to advance policies that reflect their values. We work collectively to ensure economic justice is a reality for all families. We encourage and support social change leaders to create change in their communities.
Professional training: our partnerships with family-service agencies enhance programs, practices and policies to create a collective environment that acknowledges parents' inherent strengths, power, and expertise. We partner with nonprofits who share our values about working with families, and guide them in using Parenting Journey's strengths-based approach and programming.we provide high-quality professional development to staff that improves their skills in experiential engagement, self-reflection, and group facilitation. We partner with organizations and prepare them to facilitate Parenting Journey groups in a two-generation model. We disrupt The prevalent narratives about Parenting in high-poverty communities by working with stakeholders who partner with families to improve communities. We have collective impact in communities.
