Parents in Action

In 2016, we provided over 9,300 hours of behavior assistant services and almost 500 hours of respite to individuals on Medicaid and Floridas disabilities medicaid waiver. Autism spectrum disorders now affect 1 in 68. Unfortunately,the services for these individuals has not kept up with demand and families are faced with a shortage of providers and and little to no in-home assistance. Receiving behavioral therapy and other supports can change an individuals prognosis from lifelong dependency on others to becoming an independent member of society. Our goal is to create a network of services and staff that will make a true difference in the lives of families living with autism and other developmental disabilities.

We support, educate and empower parents. We receive an average of 20-30 calls per week from families needing assistance. We teach them their rights and how to navigate the system to get their child the supports and services they need. This is especially important for families dealing with intensive behavorial needs who may not be aware of or know how to access services. We have helped families keep their loved ones living at home, with the proper supports and services, not placed in facilities or institutions. We collaborate with agencies and other organizations both locally and on the state level to improve the lives of families living with autism and other developmental disabilities.
